Back in the early 2010s, the business idea of Tampere-based Framery Oy aroused disbelief and hilarity in the listeners. The company’s miraculous story began when two friends Samu Hällfors and Vesa-Matti Marjamäki got tired of their loud boss and decided to re-commercialize the phone booth and start selling them as small workspaces providing peace of mind to businesses and even airports.
Over the decade, the product evolved, the open office culture intensified, and telecommunications connections improved. Surprisingly, the dynamic office environment was a competitive advantage recognized by all and Framery’s “Telephone booths” were a common sense product. They soon began to appear in the offices of Twitter and many other world-class players.
In less than ten years, Framery’s turnover rose from just over 100,000 euros to more than 100 million euros. Even today, there are well over 300 employees.
“The demand for our products will only increase in the future as people become more scattered, but still the need to stay connected does not disappear anywhere.”
Tero Rissanen, Framery’s R&D Engineer
New era
As we well know, the 2020s also began with a complete upheaval in working life. As people become accustomed to the world disrupted by the coronavirus, finding peace at work plays an even greater role in enabling happy work and leisure.
– Most people have already noticed that people cannot stand endless telecommuting. Then, while they gradually return to the offices, there is a need for more flexible and peaceful workspaces, Framery’s Sourcing Manager Petra Alho ponders.
Also Tero Rissanen, who works as a R&D Engineer at Framery, believes that the revolution in working life will result in an even faster pace of work in Framery ‘s product development and production.
– The demand for our products will only increase in the future as people become more scattered, but still the need to stay connected does not disappear anywhere. During this pandemic, we have done an unprecedented amount of product development with this development in mind, Rissanen points out.
“All in all, Framery One enables efficient remote meetings between clients or co-workers.”
New product
The company’s new masterpiece, Framery One, was released in February 2021. It is a continuation of the company’s Framery O, Framery Q and Framery 2Q models.
Although the encounter between Framery One and the coronavirus is a pure coincidence, it suddenly seems to offer many solutions to exactly the challenges we will face in working life also after a pandemic.
For example, the Framery One has been manufactured in accordance with the demanding ISO 23351-1 sound insulation standard and its ventilation speed is four times more efficient than the indoor recommendation. In addition, the novelty product is equipped with numerous intelligent setting and adjustment options, which are controlled from a high-definition touch screen.
In addition to all this, the booth is constantly connected to the digital management system, which means that Framery knows the need for product maintenance in real time.
All in all, Framery One enables efficient remote meetings between clients or co-workers. Its good sound insulation ensures the privacy of conversations as well as the protection of the outside work environment from noise. In addition, its efficient ventilation allows you to work briskly, even for long periods of time.
“We have also experienced that the suggestions and thoughts that come from FinnProfiles are not just a sales pitch, but we have a real feeling that they are really thinking about the customer’s best.”

New sealing solutions
The level of requirements for seals rose to a whole new level with Framery One. A lot of development work was carried out and FinnProfiles’s help proved invaluable.
All in all, Framery One includes a number of different seals developed for different purposes, of which the door seal plays the most significant role in terms of both its technical requirements and visuals.
– The door seal is in a very special position from a sound insulation point of view. In addition, it is exposed to constant stress with the use of the door and is in a visible place at the same time. How well the door seal retains its shape and other properties has a direct effect on the product’s user experience, Rissanen says.
Framery One is made up of modules, and the spacing between the modules must be sealed as well since it’s also a potential way for sound to enter the booth and vice versa. The seals made by FinnProfiles significantly reduce this noise too.
Alho points out that seals can often solve more painful problems than the seal itself.
– A seal that ends up in the structure can solve a critical challenge relatively efficiently and quickly that would have become significantly more expensive than sealing. The quality of the seal is extremely important in this sense, as the solution must not, of course, impair the functionality of our product, Alho outlines.
For the same reason, the design of the seals was also wanted as early as possible as part of the design of Framery One itself.
– Our pace of product development was really tough, but FinnProfiles showed that it is able to keep up with that ride. That is also one of the reasons why we work with them. Their product development skills and materials knowledge are really top notch, Rissanen says.
– We have also experienced that the suggestions and thoughts that come from FinnProfiles are not just a sales pitch, but we have a real feeling that they are really thinking about the customer’s best. In addition, they are exceptionally nice as co-workers, Alho reveals.
